James 1:22 (AMPC) But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it…
I can remember God speaking to me about writing my first book. One late night while journaling I heard Him say, “Broken but now I AM healed.” I jotted His words at the top of the page. About a week later I opened my journal, and saw the words broken but now I AM healed. Papa spoke, “This is the title of your first book.”
I was both shocked and excited. After a little time I begin to doubt what I heard. I thought of every reason why I could not write a book. A month later while at service, the Pastor spoke, “You will write a book.” I was like cool beans, confirmation! She then proceeded to say, “You have five years to get it done, but that does not mean to take five years to write it.”
James 1:22 (TLB) … it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. So don’t fool yourselves.
There were times God spoke and I would react out of my emotions and produce nothing. I was a hearer of His word , but I was not a doer. I grew weary of living the same day over and over. I desired change so I became a doer. My life went from mundane to fulfilled as I walk out my purpose.
Can you think of a time God spoke and you did not put action to His words? Have you spoke these words, “This is my year to (add what you would say)” but then… nothing? Have you become frustrated because you’ve been feeling stuck?
James 1 vs 22 in The Passion Translation says, “Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!
What has God breathing on your life to DO (fulfill) this year?! If you’re not sure, that’s okay. Sit with Him and His Word and allow His plan to unfold. Receive His blueprint. When you do you will see clearly as the blindfold is removed.
“When plans are executed in MY time it will succeed. When the path before you appears to be dark, My steps will light the way. ” God’s decree.
As we respond to His Word we can take comfort in knowing that we are not alone, He is with us!
Listen attentively and follow closely.
Papa, we pray James 1:22 into our lives, we pray that we do not just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it. We pray that as we become doers of our word, your words to us will become like poetry written and fulfilled by our life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
May this year be your year to experience promises fulfilled, divine encounters, divine connections and divine surprises.
