Isn’t it obvious that all runners on the racetrack keep on running to win, but only one receives the victor’s prize? Yet each one of you must run the race to be victorious. 25 A true athlete will be disciplined in every respect, practicing constant self-control in order to win a laurel wreath that quickly withers. But we run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever. 26 For that reason, I don’t run just for exercise or box like one throwing aimless punches, 27 but I train like a champion athlete. I subdue my body and get it under my control, so that after preaching the good news to others I myself won’t be disqualified.
Remain True to Daily Intimacy in His Presence
In order for us to say, “not this year” and remain true to those words all year–we need daily intimacy with God. What is He saying? What is His blueprint for my day? What scriptures are Holy Spirit leading me to that will help to navigate my day? We will find His blueprint for us during those personal and intimate times with Him.
Seek Me. Not People
Stay true to seeking after Me, I alone know the plan that I have for you. I alone know the path that is before you. Seek Me. Not after man. Man will only know what I reveal to them. Why seek after man when you can seek after Me? I speak words that will open the way before you. As you seek Me with your whole heart, you are certain to find Me. Don’t take what you may feel is the easier way. You will not find Me on the path that is easy, but you will find Me if you will seek Me with your whole heart. No one can do it for you.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 AMP For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. 13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Focus. Listen. Write. Apply.Focus. FOCUS on Me by removing all distractions.
Listen. LISTEN to sound doctrine. As you read My Word, LISTEN to the Words that I AM speaking. I will speak through My Word and even in what you feel like are random moments. Even if something I say may not make logical sense to you at that moment—listen.
Psalms 119:11a AMP Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart…
Write. WRITE all I speak to you in our times together–it’s for you. I never speak words you will not use. Every Word I speak holds weight and substance. Write and you will always have My Words to refer back to. Treasure My words as you would treasure the most valuable jewel. My words are more valuable. My Word will help you escape snares, plans and plots the enemy has set, it will not effect you. (A promise in Psalms 91:5-7) My words will bring clarity in moments when you feel as if things have become foggy. Refer back to My Words and the fog will clear. Take My words and guard them, protect them in your heart. As I speak, listen attentively, write what I say. Do not allow your emotions to persuade you otherwise. Don’t allow words that contradict My Truth move you.
Apply. Simply apply what I’ve spoken by obeying my instructions and you will not lose momentum.
Be you! This race is not a competition against others. The race you are running is against you, your former self. Your flesh is always trying to catch up to get you to come back to the place of comfort. Therefore you must remain disciplined.
1 Corinthians 9:26-27 (TLB) “So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win. I’m not just shadow-boxing or playing around. 27 Like an athlete I punish my body, treating it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to. Otherwise I fear that after enlisting others for the race, I myself might be declared unfit and ordered to stand aside.”
Stay the course. Do not veer off. You will finish well. Not only this year, but every year. Do not lose momentum.
